A little about Durango,
Durango was founded as a mining town in the late 1800's. Durango used to be
the main hub for all the mining activities throughout San Juans. Miners would
bring ore, gold and other minerals from Silverton to Durango to be processed.
Durango no longer has any mining activity and the town has slowly transformed
over the years into one of the most beautiful places in the country. You can
visit Silverton, Telluride, Ouray and see the old ghost towns from the mining
era. Having the San Juan Mountains to the North and the La Plata Mountains to
the west, it makes Durango a perfect mountain town to live and play
in.
